RULES AND REQUIREMENTS

 

Win a profitable business and home in the beautiful, Lake Erie resort town of Port Clinton, Ohio.

Both properties are located on Fremont Rd. In Port Clinton. Requirements are listed below. All entrants must be at least 18 years old.

1. In an essay tell us why you would like to operate a dairy queen type business and why you should win it and a home in Port Clinton. It should be accompanied by a $150.00 non-refundable entrance fee in the form of a bank check or money order. All money collected will be kept in escrow by an independent title agency.

2. Essay must be a minimum of 50 words and a maximum of 500 words. Essay must be typed and double spaced. It will be judged on originality and content.

3. No name should be on the essay. A separate title page with the entrant's full name, address, and contact number should be included with the essay. A control number will be assigned to each essay. Judges will have no knowledge of the entrant’s name.

4. A panel of two impartial judges will choose the winning essay. Their decision is final. The winner will be notified by certified mail or phone call within 2 weeks of the judges’ decision.  The winner will take possession of the home and business (both as is) 30 days after transfer of the title and deed.

5. The essay winner is responsible for all costs dealing with ownership and tax transfer.

6. The contest will begin June 10, 2007 and end when a maximum of 3750 essays have been received. If a minimum of 3000 essays have not been collected by June 10, 2008 all money will be refunded minus postage expenses.

7. A portion of the proceeds will benefit St. Ann’s Catholic School, located in Fremont, Ohio, and the Garden Guest Dinner Theater Building Fund, located in Port Clinton, Ohio.

8. Checks should be made out to "Business for Essay", POB 28, Port Clinton, Ohio 43452.
